How to Erase on OMR Answer Sheet?

Most examination committees favour the use of pen over pencil these days. Due to this, it is not possible to erase the marks on the OMR sheets. While the Addmen OMR software accepts the use of whitener to remove the dark marks on the OMR bubbles, this is not accepted by other OMR software. Hence, it would be best to choose your answer carefully before marking if you are using pen.

On the other hand, if you are using a pencil for filling the OMR bubbles, it is possible to erase if you think you have chosen the wrong answer. However, it is important to rub off the marks completely, as sometimes the smudges caused by constant rubbing can be considered as a mark by the software.

Dos and Don'ts of removing OMR marks

• Always use a new, soft eraser for removing the marks from OMR sheets
• Make sure that there are no smudges on the bubbles or the nearby areas.
• Never try to erase a pen mark as this cannot be removed completely, and it may also create a hole on the sheet, damaging it.
• If using an eraser to rub off the pencil marks, remove the dust of the eraser completely.

The rule for erasing the marks is different for all examination committees. Hence, it is best to read the instructions carefully before using an Eraser or Whitener.
